Kalanggaman Island

Kalanggaman Island
Palompon, Leyte

Kalanggaman Island is one of the most beautiful islands in Leyte. It’s quite a dreamy place — with white sand and clear waters: a perfect summer get-away location.

Getting There:

The town of Palompon is about 3 hours by bus from Tacloban City, and about 2 hours from Ormoc City. Hire a pumpboat at the town wharf. The boat trip takes about 40 minutes.
As a side note, Malapascua Island, Cebu, is about 2 hours away from Kalanggaman Island. So if you’re thinking of some serious island-hopping, you might want to check it out.

How Much:

A round-trip via pumpboat to and from Kalanggaman Island from Palompon could cost about Php3,000. A cottage at the island costs Php250 as of this writing.

What To Bring:

There is no water or electricity or stores in the island, so you have to bring your own food, water and other essentials. (If you get lucky, you might see some frolicking dolphins on your way to or from the island, so get those waterproof cameras ready.) If you want to stay overnight, you can bring a tent.

Recommendations:

The place is clean and well-maintained. This island is highly recommended for an outing with friends and family.
